ESSAOUIRA, with its thick fortified ramparts, lime washed houses and bright blue painted doors and windows, resembles no other town in the MOROCCAIN kingdom.
Listed as UNESCO world heritage site since 2001 and formerly known as MOGADOR, it is a real haven of tranquility and peacefulness.
However, its history goes back to the Phoenicians since they stopped in the MOGADOR island when they travelling towards the EQUATOR. Moreover, the site was then occupied by the portages and the SAADI sultan.
